My first chocolate cake!

This turned out not too bad

Then I forgot I was supposed to let it stand for 5-10 minutes before trying to take it out, so it crumbled like a wall being torn down

and I decided to finish it all off in one go ho ho ho

Via Core77
I found this Discovery website about a doco called How It's Made
I like!
Or you can always go to Youtube for even more videos of it but in lower quality

Broken Wings
It's been a long while since I watched a good drama, and this is one of those movies that lasts. You get a really strong sense of character in each of the actors, and the story, though simple, is well crafted and unfolds beautifully. Anyway, I better stop before I start using my presentation jargon, but yeah I love it and might watch it again before i have to return this.

What is it with The Matrix that after all these years, watching the trailers of it still send spine tingles?

This is the best thing I've ever found during my whole procrastinating hours:

"when i was a student, i never quite understood the insistent need that teachers had for bibliographies, i mean what the fuck are they for? why not also have the website from which you downloaded the paper from? well now, a website can help you with the bibliography too, ottobib.com is salvation."

This is quite an eye-opening blog:
“The maintenance man is moving the thermostat in our office today. I started talking with him about the “Thermostat Wars” [from Dilbert comics]. He told me about one office with 30 women where they could never get the temperature to an agreeable level. At his suggestion they installed 20 dummy thermostats around the office. Everyone was told that each thermostat controlled the zone around itself.
Problem solved. Now that everyone has “control” of their own thermostat there is no problem.”

I just found this plug-in for your Firefox called del.icio.us, where it lets you to bookmark websites online and put tags on it so you can go back to it easily. I have one of the worst bookmark folder, I couldn't remember what and why and where I bookmark things, and I have a bad habit of bookmarking everything. But this one lets me bookmark with freedom from trying to figure out either a 'zucchini recipe' fits into my 'design reference' folder or 'cool stuff' folder. Yay!

i'm using this toy camera that i got for $10.. or $15? awhile ago. Kodak Instamatic 76x it is. It uses a 126 film which is not produced anymore, but i found a tutorial that taught me how to tweak it so it can use normal 35mm film. unfortunately, i had a minor stupid mistake that ruined most of the film... fortunately, i didn't have to pay. heheh

yume no tane

I was walking past swanston st and i saw this weird white tent thing and apparently they were having a seminar with japanese artists/architects. So i went in and saw a lot of architech-y people.
Well this was a piece by Kyota Takahashi, the guy who happened to be presnting when i went in. he collected 10,000 dreams (as in, what do you want to be when you grow up kind of thing) from children all across Japan. And each child would write it on this piece of paper that has lights on it somehow and it's shaped in a way so that when it falls down it will twirl.
and he released those dreams from the hot air balloon 30m high up.. it's like watching a Ghibli animation
Obadiah Parker's 'Hey Ya' cover
via indierockblog .. you can also get that song that was used in the Sultan's Elephant video, which was performed by Les Balayeur entitled 'Decollage'. And a whole lot of other mp3 samples too! good stuff

yesterday i saw this invite at my workplace for the opening of a zoo in Sydney, and when I pull out the card and open it, a PAPER BUTTERFLY FLUTTERED OUT! like totally, flew out of the card and fluttered for a couple of seconds!
fuck that was awesome!
the paper butterfly had rubberband attached between its wings, with a bit of plastic to hold it, and it would be wind-up before it's put into the card and then the envelope.
it has a website address on it:
3d paper
But they don't have this butterfly thing i'm talking about (or else i would've put it here)..
Then the other day, my brother got me this other promotional thing from Snap printing, and i pull out the card from the envelope, AND IT FORMED INTO A CUBE! it also had this rubber band inside it, so maybe it's from the same company? don't know
anywayyy.....
(UPDATE: actually, they do have it.. here it is:

...and i thank youtube for giving me the chance to see it:
sultan's elephant
little girl giant ....which is kinda creepy, but stunning to see the mechanics behind it! she reminded me of that android/cyborg femmes from Ghost in The Shell 2
